Not sure if he's contagious - should I take him to panto or not?!

Last week, DS had croup and a viral rash and temperature and was quite unwell. He is now fine in himself, his temperature is gone and the rash is fading. He is still coughing a lot though - but it's now a normal, dry cough that you get with a cold, it's not croup anymore. He is desperate to go to the pantomime we had booked for this afternoon but obviously I can't infect everyone around him. But maybe he isn't infectious anymore as his temp has gone? As far as I understand, the cough is more of a hangover from the virus and doesn't necessarily spread germs like sneezing would. Anybody know if that's right?

Argh, what do I do?!

It doesn't sound like he's infectious but it could be annoying for the people sat near you if his cough is bad.

Floggingmolly · 08/12/2012 11:42

If you think he might be infectious, don't go.

BartletForTeamGB · 08/12/2012 11:53

I'd go. He sounds better and that cough could hang around for weeks.

if he could be infectious, don't go! not fair to risk other little uns get infected with something nasty so close to christmas x

GoldFrankincenseAndTwiglets · 08/12/2012 20:07

No, of course it wouldn't be fair to infect others, preemiemummy - I said the same in my OP. What I was asking was if anybody thought he would or wouldn't be infectious...

even if theres a chance, i wouldn't. maybe ring the doctors and check. as far as i see it, if they're still coughing they're still spreading germs. my little uns were born very prem and therefore have weakened immune systems so i feel very strongly on the subject! sorry if i've come across harsh but my kids end up hospitalised most winters due to irresponsible parents. i cant keep my 4 year old locked up in doors incase her little brother gets ill

RobinsBaubleSparkles · 08/12/2012 20:23

It doesn't sound like it if the rash is fading but I'm not an expert. I imagine that there'll be loads of children/adults there with coughs and colds, you can't avoid them at this time of year.
