DDs nail coming off!

I cut my DDs (10 mo) nails last week using baby scissors. I think I must have cut too far down on her little finger nail as I noticed a few days ago that the top was coming away from her finger - half the nail was pink where it was still attached to the nail bed, and half was White where it had come away.
I have noticed tonight that now the entire nail is white and has totally come away from the nail bed. It is hanging on by a thread!
What will happen now? Might the exposed nail bed become infected? Will it ever grow back/look normal?
I feel terrible that I have caused this!

My ds trapped his finger under a door the first week of school. His nail went black and dropped off. He nail grew back in a few weeks and you can't tell gee ever had problems with it.

His nails grow really quickly and are sharp. He used to scratch his face when he was a baby so I cut them with a tweezer man cuticle trimmer every other day. I also filed them occasionally.

DS who is 1 trapped his nail and it was black for weeks, it just started to grow out and as it began to reach half way it lifted and just dropped off and his new nail is growing through just fine. Exactly same happened to my godson.

I'm just disappointed I didn't witness the nail falling off as I wanted to have a look at it. (I like gross stuff like that!)

Don't worry. DS2 got bitten by a horse and all seemed well until his nail went white and came off. I freaked and couldn't imagine how a new nail could grow and attach to the skin. Visions of never having a nail on that f her etc.

It has grown back and his finger looks absolutely fine.

I feel your panic and hope you're reassured.

Oh thank you so much for all your reasserting posts!
I don't feel quite so cruel now Grin
Will just have to be patient til it grows back.
