baby dry skin

9 week old DS has quite dry skin on his legs & some on his face.

can anyone advise what's the kindest thing for his skin?

I'm keen to avoid products full of chemicals but would also like to avoid the mess of oils.

Olive oil. Midwife recommended it as my dd had very dry skin in the first few days. Worked wonders although did make her smell like I was about to roast her!! Very kind on skin though and really helps

My little boy was the same and he got given some bath ointment but my baby massage health visitor says grapeseed oil (its what we use in class and it doesnt stain the clothes) and she even suggested putting a few drops in his bath.(before you use a oil test a little bit first to check for reactions)

I put a handful of porridge oats in a sock and swirl them in the bath water. Totally natural moisturising emollient bath! Also very good for eczema.

Other than that don't use any baby wash/shampoos - at that age pure water is all you need (or oat water to clear dry skin then back to pure water), and they don't need bathing every day (or even every other day) as long as you are topping and tailing.

Oooh I like the oats idea better! And if I put them in a little net bag I can find them so they wont go down my drain.

I use a sock and tie a knot in the top as it stops any oat escapees lol!
