Dd poos in the bath every night!

dd poos once a day at the same time .... bath-time!
We have been trying to get the poo to come before the bath by bicycling her legs, sitting her in the bumbo (sometimes works!), or little tummy massage. But most nights she saves the poo until she is in the bath ..... is the it the combination of the relaxing warm water and the bath seat position?
Would welcome any suggestions for how to get her to poo at a different time of day, as dh has to get her out, clean up the bath and run a fresh one almost every day! She's 6 months by the way.

I think it is the warm water which is relaxing for her. Ds used to do this every so often.
Can't think of anything to suggest though...

moono · 07/04/2006 18:27

ds does this too. I just get the colander out.......

MadameDeMars · 07/04/2006 18:29

ah yes... I remember it well. It tails off after a few long months. DT1 was the Queen of bath poos. DT2 used to try to eat them. Sigh..............

Ds went through a LONG stage of doing this. Yucky, isn't it? He used to like to examine them very thoroughly too...

Carmenere · 07/04/2006 18:33

It happened here too for quite a while, keep the faith they do grow out of it!

picnikel · 07/04/2006 18:34

Ha! Dd did this and we decided she wasn't really that dirty and started bathing her once a week!

bumbleweed · 07/04/2006 19:22

Ah ... a familiar story then!

moono, unfort a colander would be no good - poo is still of the bfed korma-paste variety, goes kinda stringy in the water and disperses to cover a vast area!

So its just wait it out then .....

bumbleweed, my dd used to do this. was a nightmareas she would usually be in bath with ds. tried everything, nothing worked, just eventually stopped (was quite few years ago now). I know its a pain now but i promise you'll laugh about it in a few years!

wavingordrowning · 08/04/2006 16:08

Ah ha...so it's not just ds! Posted on this not too long ago and received some terrific suggestions e.g. keep an old plastic bottle (eg milk container or bubble bath bottle) in the bath room, squeeze it then put in water and it will suck up the poo into the bottle and then you can tip it down the loo. Also, use Milton sterilising tablets to clean up the bath and toys. If it's any consolation, he's been doing this for a good six months and he's now 18 months old and showing no signs of stopping!

my DS used to do this too! Every evening without fail. I even bought a potty and sat him on it before bath (he was much too young for training but I didn't know what else to do!). He just grew out of it. (not much help to you though - sorry Smile)

bumbleweed have u maybe tried giving her some baby fruit juice or some type of fruit a little while before bathtime-not too much or she'll get the runs!!!

Hope this helps!!!

bumbleweed · 08/04/2006 20:26

ok at least I know its fairly common (but unspoken of in the mums groups!) ... thank you for the very practical suggestions, all of which worth a try

its not the worst nightmare of parenthood just a pain in the ar*e !
