Hellooo!! I use an Eco Egg for the nappies and am impressed so far, still have to sun the stains out but I don't have to do extra rinses at the end. Once the detergent for the clothes is used up I'll be using it for them too just need to find something to soften them!

The pretty didn't work Sad but he's put nearly 1lb on in 3 weeks so all good.

Food poisoning sucks, are you OK now?

Wink baby BFG, isn't it weird having a chil thast is totally different to the rest??

rrreow · 21/03/2013 15:05

Thanks NH. I am going to Google some more reviews and then decide. My nappies tend to come out with stains when using powder anyway, so as long as it's not too horrible it probably won't be much of a change.

I'm feeling much better re food poisoning although cough still keeping me up at night and that magical Vicks on feet trick just doesn't seem to work for me. Sent DH to buy some pholcodine linctus for me though so going to try that tonight and see how I get on.

Poor DS has the bug now though so he's home from nursery. Happy to say though that two part nappies are so effective with diarrhea! It still goes everywhere, but at least it's all contained INSIDE the nappy/wrap. Haven't had to do any clothes changes at all.

Biscuit have you seen this? www.realnappiesforlondon.org.uk/realnappyweek (specifically the Great Cloth Nappy Change on 20th April) I think I'm going to go as long as I'm free and not feeling too pregnant by that time.

NappyHappy · 21/03/2013 20:02

R, I was pleasantly surprised with it. Bit of the old sun to bleach the stains out and that's it.

You do sound like you are going through the wars ATM, hope you're both better soon.

Oooh thanks rrreow I've signed up - will stick it on the FB page tomorrow too Smile When are you due? Hope you're feeling better - being ill + pregnant = miserable and I can't even imagine it + toddler too...! Hope you can rest this weekend.

NH the pics of your boys on fb are soooo cute!

NappyHappy · 23/03/2013 11:42

Thanks Biscuit. They're not cute when screaming in my face at the same time!

I guess not... Earplugs?!

rrreow · 23/03/2013 15:43

Oh god... We've just had the drain/sewage people in because of a blockage. It was in the pipes outside the property so luckily the council's responsibility but when they cleared it they pulled up a load of nappy liners!! We recently switched brands to save money (used Bummis for a year without problems). Feeling quite badly now!! Blush But can't be held totally responsible as obviously these liners are sold as being flush able and biodegradable! In case anyone's wondering, the liners in question are Little Lambs ones. We're going to have to switch back to the other ones now.

biscuit I'm due in June. Am 28w today. On the one hand quite soon but on the other hand it feels like ages!!

NappyHappy · 23/03/2013 15:59

Nope, they just have to wait their turn Grin

Thanks for the warning about the liners! I've started using them again (Tots Bots) 28weeks, how are you feeling?

Weaning this small dude is interesting! Tried fork mashed food he puked, went straight to finger food he puked and is managing on old school puree Confused think I'll stick to it for a few weeks then see what his gag reflex is like.

NappyHappy · 23/03/2013 16:20

Meant to add, I read an article the other week about why we shouldn't be using fleece liners as they make the babies sweat, the same for pul and how dare we waste the Earths resources by using essential oils in the wash! I felt like I had been thoroughly told off by this woman!

rrreow · 23/03/2013 16:20

How old is your youngest NH? I look forward to weaning again. I found it quite fun. DS was strange he never liked (and still doesn't) the traditional weaning foods like sweet potato and all the other sweet root veg.

I swear we need a 'Meet the regulars' post that lists everyone and the ages of their kids! I keep getting confused.

I'm feeling fine pregnancy-wise but keep getting ill which is annoying! DS is at nursery 3x a week so he brings back every bug going. I also had obstetric cholestasis last time so am worried about getting it again and basically pretty paranoid about every single itch! I'd love to have a natural water birth or home birth this time but not sure if it'll be possible. Keeping fingers crossed!

PurplePidjin · 23/03/2013 17:37

Fingers crossed, rrreow!

Today i have mostly prepped the nursery. Dp and i both sleep badly after the first wake of the night so we're going to try him on his own to see if he settles better...

Ds is 4 months and my only :)

OP posts:
NappyHappy · 23/03/2013 19:52

Awww PP! He might sleep great once he can't smell you. I do expect an update in the morning Wink Wink is that what the trip to IKEA was for? Did you buy scented candles? Their blue shopping bags are the best laundry bags.

Rreow, ds1 is 5 in May and has turned into a gobby, chatterbox teenager already. DS2 is nearly 18m and DS3 nearly 7m!! the others took to it brilliantly, I pushed the food I made him through a sieve with the back of a spoon and he took it well. He also puked when I tried to give him a dummy. Bless him, I'll take it slow with him. Grin

How old is your small person?

rrreow · 23/03/2013 20:58

My DS is 22 months. Will have an approx 2 year age gap between him and DS2 which, although I'm sure will be hard work, is exactly what we wanted! Actually also already contemplating whether we'll go for a DC3.. Hmm if it wasn't for the pesky pregnancy part it would be a no brainer.

NappyHappy · 23/03/2013 22:06

Grin yeah, I really suffered towards the end of my last one, Summer is not the best time to have a Uterus bursting at the seams.

I love the toddler bit, ds2 is so funny.

I had a water birth and it was brilliant so if you can, do!

Is your Hospital local? They'll be no more new fluffies once you have given birth Sad

PurplePidjin · 23/03/2013 22:34

First feed of the night. I usually get 4-5hours. Uhoh Hmm

OP posts:
rrreow · 23/03/2013 22:54

Oh I agree. I've always liked DS (ok that sounds strange, but you know what I mean), but now that he's really developing his own personality I'm just realising he's so funny and also that I think he's actually a nice person. Once they start communicating more they're just so much more interesting and fun to be around. Having said that though I'm also really looking forward to having a newborn again. Must be hormones!!

My hospital is 5 mins away so I was really hoping to book for a home birth and just see how things go and see how I feel. DS1, although I was induced, was only a 3.5hr labour so if it's similarly quick again I'd love to be at home.

Good luck PP. We've finally cracked the sleeping with DS, can't believe I'll be going back to bf nightshifts again before long... I do remember enjoying it with DS though (especially with DH's iPhone to keep me entertained, and this time it will be even BETTER because I have my own iPhone Grin)

PurplePidjin · 24/03/2013 05:44

8-9:50, 10:20-2:20, 2:50-4:50. He's just dozed off after feeding, hoping for another hour!

OP posts:
PurplePidjin · 24/03/2013 06:51

Got it :o Good lad!

OP posts:
NappyHappy · 24/03/2013 15:05

Were still in our jamas! Clean ones.

Luckily after 3-6 weeks the night feeding settles.

Then starts about 5-6 months. Again.

Are you excited?

Good goin' P! BabyD fed 3 times last night, usually 2 but he's creeping up again! Do you think the own room thing will help you all?

Not that any of us are looking forward to the day when they sleep 12 hours straight!!

PurplePidjin · 24/03/2013 16:00

I'm hoping it helps dp as me sneaking out is less disruptive for him, but he's always been a crap sleeper. R will need to be there anyway soon in a big cot so as it doesn't seem to bother him it makes sense to transition slowly. I have a comfy rocking chair, and actually found it easier to stay awake sat properly. I was also less tense listening to every snuffle in case he woke. I'm a bit paranoid because he sleeps on his tummy though but there are no other risk factors - no smoking, minimal drinking, no drugs, brand new mattress etc...

OP posts:
NappyHappy · 24/03/2013 19:22

I hope it works for you. How do you manage to put him down on his tum? The oldest have slept that way since they learned to roll over.

Have you found a night nappy combo that works?

PurplePidjin · 24/03/2013 19:38

Lie him along my arm, lay him down, slide arm out. Once he's gone he's zonked thankfully!

Bamboo fitted or cotton pf with booster and fleece liner, wool on top, change around 1am. He's so sensitive to wet hopefully easier to potty train

OP posts:
NappyHappy · 24/03/2013 21:30

I have a zonker too! Doesn't it make things easier?

So after lots of experimenting the end is nigh! Grin certainly sounds like pt will be easier.

Baby is only having 2x half hour sleeps in the day atm which cant be good. Ive started putting him in with me after the 5am feed as dh is leaving for work then. Then get poked in the head by ds1 at weekends 'get up mummy I want bwekbwast'.

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 24/03/2013 21:34

Oh you are all making me so broody... I wish you could order a new baby from ocado or amazon. I did not enjoy being pg, was sick as a dog the whole time and was enormous by the end - NH you are so right about summer pregnancy, eurgh. Would love to have 3 but it'll take about a decade at this rate!

R which hosp are you at? I went to UCH, really wanted water birth but they wouldn't even let me in the pool because short staffed grrrr. We were in the room with the pool and everything but they wouldn't fill it up still bitter hope you manage home birth, I think 2nd time round it's more appealing.
