Infacol - effective? Does it lead to more poo?

Hi, new neurotic mum here. DS is not quite 4 weeks, gets terrible wind so HV recommended Infacol. Anyone else use it? I'm sure he poos much more since I started using it, he is dirty every time I change him, whereas before he went for several hours without poo. Also not sure how long I can use Infacol for, took him off it for a day and the wind returned and he was v fretful.
Don't know whether it's what I eat - not eating anything I didn't eat in pregnancy but do like to have herbs/spices in food. Can't face the thought of months of bland food, and besides how do babies in cultures where spicy food is the norm cope? help, so many questions...
