my older 3 were using the potty by now all be it with a few accidents but dc4 is awful - she just wont use it at all. I have her nappy off today trying to get her to use it - she wont sit on it even for a treat and there is literally wee everywhere. Im feeling really despondent about the whole thing.

Should I give up for a while and go back to nappies? SHe starts nursery in september next year when shes 3 so I have until then.

I waited until my DD asked not to wear nappies anymore, so essentially took the lead from her, she was 2.9 yrs...she got it in about 3 days.... Grin
I say she's not ready and wait a while longer!!!! I was dreading potty training and it has taken me by surprise what a doddle it had been!

Plus if you give it another 6 months it will be spring and she can wonder around nappy free in the garden! Wink

It may be an idea to wait until she is ready. She may even tell you she wants to put pants on.

You may want to get a book called on your potty (bartholomew bear) or have you seen my potty book.

I am childminding a 3 year old who is being toilet trained. I got a toilet safety seat recently and found it much better than using the potty. Pull ups are useful but can make a child lazy.

It can be stressful for both of you if you try to do this before she is ready.

I've just had the same with dd2 age 2.5. We did 3 days, not a single wee/poo landed in potty. I gave up and such a relief not to be chasing her with detol! I definitely think I will leave it until she seems more interested, I have seen several friends keep going and it went on for weeks and months.

saying that, last fri she went up to child minder, said wee wee, and did her first wee in the potty. Little tease...
