Bedtime bath then feed or feed then bath

According to bsby whisperer skeep book I do it all wromg and should be feeding my baby then playing then sleep and bedtime shoukd be feed then bath then sleep. Ds of 6mo always has bath then feeds to sleep. He often naps after a feed too. Is this really so wrong and if so how do I change it?

No! If it works, don't change it because of something you read in a book - utter madness

Ignore the book! Do what works for you :)

Iirc I used to feed, then bathe, then feed again in the hope it would keep 'em fuller longer it never worked

How do you get a baby to sleep without feeding them?

If it works for you and your baby don't change it!! Your ds sounds very happy. Ds hasnt read the book:) I used to bath then bf. they always want milk before bed and a cuddle, and so do I, (bf til 2, now cows milk) and stories in bed.

Baby books are fine, but by and large are suggestions that fit your way of doing things or not. Like advice on mn:) . And your baby's way of doing things. All babies are different.

Dd (now 14m) has always had bath then feed and at 6m it would have been feed feed and more feed all through the bloody night but she never fell asleep on the bottle. I would tend to agree with the others that if it works for you and your dc then don't change it. The point the bw is trying to make is that she doesn't think the association between feeding and sleep is a good one as one of her aims is to get babies to self settle, ie go down wide awake, kick about a bit then go to sleep. She misses out the bit where they scream blue murder because they don't want to be put down!

We do teeth - bath - bottle - bed. ONce dd gets to one, we are going to do bath - cup of milk with a story - teeth - bed.

If it works do it. No book knows you and your child!

My 8 month old is petrified of the bath so she hasn't had one for weeks. She gets a flannel all over. When I did bathe her (I was hoping she'd get used to it) it was always before a last feed and then bed. I couldn't feed her and then have her screaming and possibly puking while in the bath.

Having just tried 2 days if EASY after convincing myself feeding to sleep was wrong... We have given up. 2 days with a crying baby who is usually a happy little thing was enough to make me give it up and go back to feeding to sleep and we will continue to!!

Bath then feed. If we had fed then bathed Ds would have brought the feed back up.

Thank you I feel less of a failure now.Ds loves his bath&kicks&splashes.without milk after he would never sleep.
