Hey I'm new to posting on here. I am terrified of vomit and last night at 9.30pm my 5 year old said he had a tummy ache so I said go to the toilet and followed him up to my horror when we got to the top of the stairs he was sick in the end my partners mum cleaned it up as she only lives across the road. My partner was at work at the time anyway I sat up all night until he came in and we went to bed my son then woke us up at 9am saying he had been sick it was only a tiny bit though. At about 2pm my partner got the runs sorry if tmi and I was questioning him to make sure he didn't feel sick which he didn't at the time a little while after when I was talking to him he said all of a sudden I think I'm going to be sick and I shouted at Him to go to the bathroom when he had gone I collapsed into a shaking crying mess on the floor. Now he is in bed upstairs and my son is at my mums and I'm downstairs. What are the chances of me already having it in my system or catching it? Does anyone know how long in average it lasts? My stomach is killing me but that might be because I've been stressed out for the last 24 hours. Does anyone have any help advice or preventions? Looking on here is the only thing keeping me going at the moment :(

Hi - I caught it from my little girl last year, wasn't fun BUT blew itself out in about 5 hours! Felt knackered and washed out afterwards, but recovered easily. It can't harm you really, just keep hydrated.

Hopefully by bf is just sleeping it off now then and I don't catch it :(

I am also terrified of being sick but got the novovirus back in the summer and was so ill I was glad when I vomitted as felt so much better afterwards!! I think it takes a couple of days to incubate! Wash your hands thoroughly and wear disposable gloves to deal with bodily fluids!

Try not to worry. I used to be terrified of being sick when I was a child and a teenager, but after morning sickness etc I now realise it's grim, but there's nothing to it. It can't harm you, you will get better! I'd actually rather have a day's sickness than, e.g. a week of really bad flu.

I'd rather have flu 10 times over /:, I'm scared of other people's sick too because I can't control it and don't know if they will make it to the bathroom or not

I've never had to clean up sick thank god! He was sick when he was a young baby but that never bothered me and he hadn't been properly sick until last night
