Shy Breastfeeding mum needs fashion tips!

After some advice! We have a wedding at end if Dec and I need a dress/outfit as I'll still be exclusively BF my 3 month old DD whilst chasing my "spirited" 23month DS.
Can anyone recommend what to wear to keep my modesty in tact when BF as I'm quite shy doing it in public??
There will be other babies but I'm pretty sure they're all bottles fed so don't want to make a show of myself flashing accidentky in the registry office!

If you are lifting up clothes to feed - a vest underneath plus leggings or a small stretchy skirt over tights. Layers will be fine as its winter. Wool dresses are often quite stretchy and practical for running about in.

Add a scarf to use for draping / distraction.

Tbh, having done two or three weddings breastfeeding, I would just wear a nice deep v-neck/wrap dress for ease of access and use one of those breastfeeding cover-ups for the day - or a nice scarf would do, come to that. That's what I'll be doing with my similarly aged DC at a wedding in April.

I went to one recently and wore a wrap style with a vest underneath, it was fairly easy to breast feed, I kept a plain black pashmina in my bag for extra coverage. Everyday I just wear layers so one top goes up while the vest underneath pulls down so you could go for a skirt and nice top.

Thanks for the fab ideas. Going to rumage around my wardrobe and see what might work with those ideas in mind and maybe have a "test run" at home! Just seen a breast vest thingy online that might give me some more options so fingers crossed!! Have a big pashmina to hide under too I'd forgotten I had which will look smarter than my usual grotty cloth I sling over my shoulder!

I agree that a wrap dress could work well. I also wear shirt dresses or jersey dresses with buttons at the front. I often find dresses with buttons at White Stuff and Fat Face oddly enough.
So you don't need to buy specific maternity/ nursing dresses but some of them are quite nice.

My most successful wedding breast feeding outfit was a dress with low enough neckline, with a bolero cardigan over the top that did up with one button - complete coverage!

DIYQueen- that does sound like a fab idea but a bit worried I'd end up flashing everything! Even though its my second time round I'm still very clumsy at it (rely heavily on using pillows at home to prop baby on)!!

I was a maid of honour at a wedding when my baby was 2 weeks 4 days old... the dress I was given to wear was not extremely breastfeeding friendly !
One of the other ladies there gave me a great tip of hooking the corner of a muslin around the bra strap of the opposite side to the boob you a feeding from which you can then drape across. I don't generally feed with a cover up, but on this occasion it was great.

Oh, and if you are based in Hampshire I've just heard of a company that hires out breastfeeding and maternity dresses if you want their details

You need a bolero that covers your boobs, then dress comes down, bolero up and all that is exposed is the bit in the baby's mouth! Scarves can be a bit risky when babies get to the grabbing stage, mine would just yank a scarf or muslin off.

I agree with the scarf approach - I used throughout bf and especially helped when I was getting the hang.

I had the same dilemma when my daughter was 5 weeks old. I wish I had thought to ask online because I don't know any other mums that have breastfed that I could ask! In the end it didn't matter because the caterers made an issue of my baby sleeping in a pram by my table at the reception being a hazard and when I asked her where I was supposed to put a 5 week old baby that i couldn't have left behind because im Breastfeeding she actually shouted at me that she didn't know. So I left my cousins wedding in tears before dinner made it to the table. I hope you have more luck! I'm pretty sure this caterer was just a bitch because I managed my own wedding Breastfeeding my daughter at 3 months old just fine...although granted I didn't care about offending anyone since it was my wedding lol
