Too content....?

Dd2 is almost 4 months and I am getting a little worried that she is too content. I know that probably sounds stupid and most mums want a contented baby but seriously I am worries something is wrong. She never cries unless tired not even for food and as a result is not gaining weight and I have to feed her 2 hourly as she never seeks food, she is perfectly happy sitting watching the world for as long as I leave her, even in the morning when she wakes up she just lies in her Moses basket in the dark until her grunts wake me up. She seems alert and has a cute little shout that she does sometimes but I'm just worried she should be doing more..... Am I mad or should I worry

Hi I'm sure someone will come along to reassure you, it's a long time since my two were babies. Was your first child very vocal, is it just that you have a more placid baby 2nd time round? Have you mentioned this at Dd2's check ups?

May all the Gods who are listening allow my first, due in May, to be exactly the same as your daughter. :)

Haha weeblue that made me laugh! Maybe I just can't quite let myself believe she is awesome!! I haven't spoken to hv as its a fairly new concern and I don't regularly see her anymore but have her injections tomorrow so will ask. Maybe your right donkeys. Dd1 is very advanced and a chatter box, she also had colic so was always unsettled and whiny. Thanks for the reassurance :)

She sounds like my mother's description of me as a baby. I'm not sure whether that should reassure you or not.

I have a friend with a baby like this she sits happy as larry while DS squeals and shouts to be set free, her crys are just little moans while DS brings down the house. My mum said my sister was also like that downside is she was a lazy child later on, not that yours would be :)

Thanks for your replies. Hv said not to worry as she looks alert.... But I just can't help but worry. On the plus side she has started to recognize her name and can work out how to move herself towards an object she wants so I know I shouldn't worry it's just so hard waiting to know she is ok. I am not just an obsessive worrier, I have a Neice with learning difficulties and she was so content and happy to do nothing I think it's making me look for signs more. :)

My Ds was exactly like this. Honestly, dh and I would whisper between ourselves that this parenting malarkey was pi*s easy.

Then he hit around 5/6 months, and life became 'normal' in the sense that he cried more, whinged a bit and generally needed more stimulating. My 7/8 months I had an extremely active baby that needed what seemed like constant stimulation.

Calm before the storm I say.

DS1 was exactly like this, I was worried as well, he just never seemed to do much! He is now 3.1 and very clever so I think all that quiet time was him just absorbing stuff! Much much MUCH livlier now

Sounds just like my DS! He's just turned 1 & is still the near-perfect child about 95% of the time! I used to worry that he was 'too happy' but I've come to the realisation now that we're just the world's most amazing parents!

I can totally relate to your anxiety. My youngest (of 3) was just so quiet. Was so happy in her routine. I took her to HV at 5 months because she hardly cried. HV said all looked well but to check in at a year. At 1 year I was still a bit worried. She wasn't as smiley as other two. But at 14 months she sprung to life. She is now a dervish. But I love it! I have absolutely no worries now at 18 months. She runs around, cuddling, kissing, talking and playing.

We did however find out she had really bad glue eat shen she was 7 moaths.

Glue ear!

Daytoday I read that as we did find out at 7 months she had eaten glue....

Thanks tho I do appreciate your replies makes me feel like I am not alone in my worries and deep down I know she is fine just nice to hear if others that have been there and all is well!! Will probably be posting next month about my wild/whingy 5 month old....
