I have some copywriting to do and part of the webpage is in this scripy, I cant Identify the language, if its a real one or not.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Vestibulum fringilla euismod elit. Curabitur bibendum, enim in ornare dignissim, leo ipsum vestibulum ligula, vel vehicula lectus lacus vel odio. Vestibulum ante ipsum primis in faucibus orci luctus et ultrices posuere cubilia Curae;

I was wondering if it was romanian, it sems to be latin based. I hope its not someone taking the mickey.

it looks like latin to me....

moondog · 29/03/2006 09:36

Hmm,looks like Hollywood Latin to me! lol
I'm sure it's not Roumanian...

JackieNo · 29/03/2006 09:36

It's what I think they call 'greeking', although it is latin. It's what people put in to fill in the space before the real text is ready, just so you can get an idea of how the page will look with text on.

Thought it might be, why not just put bbbbsssddd etc. So translating it will be of no use to me then?

Well it certainly looks like Latin, but, having done Latin A level (many years ago so my memory may be playing me false), I don't recognise very much of it. I think it is either not Latin, or something made up based on Latin. You don't get words ending in "ing" in Latin, for a start.

JackieNo · 29/03/2006 09:39

No - don't bother to translate. It's kind of standard text that everyone who does this uses. I think because it's sort of 'proper' words (OK, latin, but still a variety of letters, lenghts of words etc) it has a more 'realistic' look than just writing 'bbbbsssddd'.

Here you go - definition \link{http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/G/greeking.html\here}.

Flip · 29/03/2006 09:41

Try \link{http://www.tranexp.com:2000/Translate/result.shtml\this} link to translate from Latin to English. It's pretty good for lots of languages although you don't get an exact translation.

JackieNo · 29/03/2006 09:41

Actually better one \link{http://desktoppub.about.com/cs/basic/g/greeking.htm\here}

lucy5 · 29/03/2006 09:42

Thanks, that makes sense. Don't know what he expects me to write then!
