When is a baby considered a toddler?

My dad still calls me his baby now - am late 30's.... I'd say when they're toddling then they're "officially" toddlers.

I wouldn't call a walking 1 year old a baby, certainly. When they can understand a few words (like NO!) and know their own names, when they're trying to communicate and walking around - yes, I'd call that a toddler.

When the next sibling is born! My DD was a 22month old baby when I went into labour with DD2 and a huge toddler 12 hours later when she came to see us!
Therefore, just like a PP, I'm still my parents baby at 33 as I'm the youngest in my family!
Seriously though, when they are walking confidently and communicating, IMO.

1 year old dd understands some words and instructions, is walking and can say mama, dada, nana, no, and cat....I guess she is a toddler.....where the hell did the time pass???
