how many children do you have? how old are they?

Did you feel that rush of love for all of them the same or were some diffrent from others?
I have 1 DS who is 17 months old and i love him to bits, he is beautiful i am now, however panicking that when dc 2 comes in a few years i will not feel the same? Or it wont be as special because its the 2nd?

I have 3

I didn't have an instantaneous rush of love with any of them (too bloody knackered) but within a few hours was TOTALLY in love with all of them

I have one and been honest I didn't get the rush of love. I had a scary labour which nearly resulted in the death of me and my son. It has put me off having any more

I have 3 and none had a rush as tbh I was quite selfish and was in pain and felt very sorry for myself (3 home births, no pain relief). Once I settled and snuggled love flooded with all of them. :)

Pheww makes me feel better that you all got the rush of love at some point shortly after your births!

I think the rush of love thing happened more quickly for me as DS tried to come at 25 weeks so was scared of loosing him alot more....

For me it was like falling in love over a 24hr period

Think with no.1 I was a bit stunned at what had just happened (!)

No.2 was just so chilled and on my boob from the word go... so easy. She was easy to fall in love with

No.3 I was just bloody relieved it was over. It was a hard labour (not complicated, just hard graft!) and he was big at 10lb 2oz which was unexpected

Yes felt the rush of love as soon as they were born. I remember staring at DD1 in her goldfish bowl in total awe for hours. DD2 & 3 were homebirths I remember lying in bed just staring at them, DS was just amazing

Op, i think that every mum worries deep down that when they have a second tchild they won't feel the same love for them as they did for DC1. (Well, i know that it was a big fear of mine).
But number 2 comes along and so does a whole heap of extra love with it!

Exactly what redadmirals said. You don't have to half your love you double it. I was so worried when expecting #2, couldn't imagine how I could possibly love anything or anyone else as much as DD1, but then my beautiful snuggly newborn DD2 was in my arms and I couldn't believe the instant rush of love I felt. She's two weeks old now and I can't believe I ever worried :)

Thank god for all the positive replies! We are not planning another baby yet ds is 17 months, im 20 and dp is 26 so we dont want all our babies too young and at once, we want a big ish gap aswell so 2nd will be like the first i suppose, buying everything again!! Haha

I had a massive rush of love for ds as soon as he was born (nice easy birth). However with my second (dd) I had a much more differcult, painful and 1 month premature birth. I never got that rush of love :-(. She then got very sick and spent a week in hospital, things were tough to put it mildly. I loved dd, but like I would love a friends dd iykwim? However when she was 7 weeks I gave her a bath and totally fell in love with her. She's now 2, my ds is 5 and I love them both so much. Your love really does double, although in my case it took a while. It does come though.

This pretty much sums up my biggest fear this pregnancy. I can't fathom how anyone could even come close to my beautiful perfect DS1! :) I'm sure I'll love #2 just as much, but it doesn't seem possible at the moment.

I wasn't worried...
I didn't have a "rush" with ds1 it happened gradually :)
So I sort of just expected the same with ds2.... However had a rush with ds2 :) think its because I understood motherhood more and appreciated meeting my son more than I possibly did the first time.

Anyway.... I totally feel like my love has doubled :)not halved :)

I don't know about a rush, but I certainly feel as strongly for DC2 as for DC1. Your love definitely doubles and you love them as much but in different ways IME. And when you see the love between your DCs when they're not trying to kill each other your heart could burst.

DS fell over earlier today, DD helped him up, and he asked her for a cuddle to make him feel better, and I nearly wept!
