DS (4) has come home from school raving about Moshi Monsters

Can someone (over the age of 5!) give me the idiots guide to these things please?!!!

And it's not the actual Moshi Monsters that are the problem (I think there are only a few) its the Moshlings...

Hundreds of the feckers to be collected!

I read an interview with their creator recently and he came across like a decent bloke, all to do with making a safe on-line environment for kids IIRC. And making piles of cash.

The website is very addictive. You need to pay a subscription to access the best bits of the 'game'. Be prepared for lots of pestering....

And then there's the cards / stickers to collect
And little plastic moshlings
And the monthly magazine
And loads of toys, beanies etc....

Mr Moshi must be a VERY rich man

My 6 yo is also mad into Moshi's, although she doesn't know there's a web game and I plan to keep it that way for as long as possible, she collects the little toys (moshlings) which she loves and has a DS game which she plays occasionally. I think they are quite cute!

You have a monster to care for which is fun BUT loads of kids on there add others they dont know so we have strict rules on who dd can add to her friends list.

If your a member there are extra places and games to play. BUT be warned there is loads of characters to collect ect

DD only collects the Moshlings and plays the iPhone app. Both of which I'm quite jealous of!

Moshi Monsters has been the first real passion that my DCs (8and 6) have shared. It started with collecting Moshlings, then we got the Ipad apps and a pack of Top Trumps, they have all been played with endlessly. They devour the monthly comic too. As for the website, they found out about it after a few weeks, we registered, they played on it a couple of times each and completely lost interest. Their current thing is watching videos of Moshis on YouTube. There is masses of merchandising out there, it is huge, they have really enjoyed Moshi colouring sheets and a jigsaw.

My only real gripe is that Moshlings are so expensive £1.99 for a pack of two. When DS collecte GoGos they were £1 for a pack of three. My two get round it by pooling their pocket money £1 each and sharing the Moshlings.

Apparently it was on the computer at school
Needless to say a few days on and he's back to Lego again but at least I know what I'm up against now!
