What did your two-year-old love for birthday/Christmas?

DS is two this month and relatives have been asking me for present ideas, and also some for Christmas. I don't think they want to get gift vouchers, I think they want an actual present they can see him open (fair enough). I'm a bit stumped for ideas though. He's not that bothered about cars or vehicles - his favourite toys are simple puzzles, and things with parts that fit together, and he likes drawing and painting. Any present ideas that went down well with your toddlers at this age?

My Mum bought DS a lovely Noah's Ark that was a shape sorter for animals. It was similar to this one.

He also liked wooden jigsaws and play do and a ride on tractor with a trailer.

How about some Duplo?

Anything happyland related! My 5yo still plays with ours. Duplo is great too :)

Yep he's got that too! He hasn't got loads of toys, honest - just a lot of the more obvious ones I think. A lot of people got him "older" toys for his first birthday (like the Duplo, trike etc) that he's just growing into now. So far the only thing I've thought of that he hasn't got is Play-Doh, and he can't get five sets of that from everyone!

Brio-style wooden train set and Duplo were the big favourites here. DS was (is) very into vehicles though.

Mine loved cars at that age too and the best present was probably a garage. What about a tool bench or a little cooker set too - they liked to "cook". A ball pool and balls? An easel or desk? A balance bike? Puppet theatre?

My two also collected all the Bob the Builder vehicles at that age - they were brilliant quality and went to the nursery afterwards
You sed to be able to get Junior playmobil - my boys had a farm...and a wooden farm in a bag which was great - think you can get blocks that make up town buildings too - town in a bag? - i'll have a google and post a link if I find one.

Aquadraw is a favourite here and a wooden train set. Also loves his little people plane

Playmobil 1 2 3 is the junior stuff - less little bits!!

Dds 2nd birthday was last Monday.
We bought her some lovely presents.
Her favourite was a peppa pig umbrella. :o

Giant blocks. My two year old loves loves loves these. Honestly, yesterday afternoon two hours in total of playing with them. Obstacle course, tunnels, racing cars down them. Brilliant present, ESP for winter

My 20mo loves Playmobil 1-2-3. It's suitable from 18 months+.

And there's a really big zoo set in Tesco that's normally £35 and is reduced to £20 right now. I'm going to get it for his main present for Christmas, as he loves animals.

Ds3's birhday is next month and we are getting him a new bike. From other relatives he is getting a wheelbarrow and a set of garden tools.

Haven't really thought about Christmas yet but would love to get him a wagon

Mine have all had micro scooters or their second birthdays. They've used them to death, they're brilliant. Couldn't recommend them enough.

Brio train set was DS big favourite. Only recently been consigned to the loft ( he wants to keep it for his kids he says!!!) and infact last year when it was still in a box under his bed he and his cousin got it out and played with it for over an hour!! So it was expensive but we and various family members added things to it over the years.

Giant Megablocks for building with were very popular.

And DD had a Fisher price kitchen which DS actually played with more than she did from age 2!!

DD had 2nd birthday and Xmas within days of each other, and most successful things were Happyland house, Duplo Zoo, tea set, box of art stuff, play doh, dominoes (very hungry caterpillar - I thought she was too young but she grasped it quickly - if your DS likes puzzles he might be the same) and magna doodle. We also put a bit of money aside to buy something in the summer, and sand and water play table and 'pop up shop' both a big hit then.
