Going away overnight and leaving kids at home?

I'm am probably a bit overprotective probably comes from having a DH who always sees the worst case scenario but I am nervous about going away overnight and leaving my younger children in the care of their older brother. DH and I will soon be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and fancy a weekend away to spend some uninterrupted time together. At the time my boys will be 19, 15 and 6. They are all pretty sensible for their ages and the 19yo is capable of cooking and child care etc as he regularly babysits or cares for the littlest one during the day for a few hours. My middle son has asperger's but copes well most of the time. We wouldn't be planning to go very far. My concern is the "what ifs". I have a couple of local friends who would be happy to be available if required. I'm being ridiculous aren't I?

Don't worry. The responsibility will be very good for them, and bear in mind that many au pairs and nannies are only 19 or so. They know the drill - they'll be fine.

Thank you, I knew I was being overprotective when paranoid DH was OK about leaving them, LOL
