Aplix or nippa?

DD currently wearing totsbots size 1 aplix - which is great - really convenient and dh-proof.

Going to buy size 2's in the bamboozle I think as I bought one as a trial and it is much softer and seems smaller. But not sure about aplix or nippa - as I have read on other threads about babies as they get a bit older liking to undo the aplix!?

DD hasnt yet undone one (currently 5months) but currently tugging at clothes and everything she can get her hands on.

Can anyone advise from experience?

Hi,
I would recommend aplix - I use a nippa with my bamboozles and the more I've washed them the harder it is for the nippa to grip into them and I've had to resort to using a nappy pin.
HTH.

thanks for replying picnikel, why is it harder for the nippa to grip - how do they go after they have been washed a few times? sorry new to nippas!

They just seem to be less "fluffy" after washing - the nippa can't grip in properly and falls off. Doesn't help that dd is going through a phase of leaping around while I attempt to change her nappy..... I also have some totsbots fluffles and they've been fine.

I like the nippa ones better, just found I could get a snugger fit paticularly when dd was newborn. I've got bambozles for size 2's and have found on the whole the nippas are ok, though I do now double check them when fastening - I've found the bottom part doesn't always stay in place great but haven't had too many probs. On a washing front, my bambozles aren't as soft as they were when new but still thinner than origenal tots bots and not scratchy if air dried.

Picnikel, you're not the first person I've heard whose had trouble with nippas - how old are your babmboozles now? I've been using mine for around a month and not finding the nippa thing too bad - is it likely to get worse?

thanks for replying twiga - I really want to know how the bamboozles will wear now - as yours seem ok but relatively new

Hi bumbleweed, im stalking you today Grin
Ds has just grown out of his size 1 aplix bamboozles and I have ordered aplix again in size 2. I had one nippa bamboozle that I sold on fairly quickly. I couldn't get a secure fit, the nippa wouldn't hold right at the bottom. Had no problems at all with aplix and would highly recommend, don't know how they will be when he is older and tries to undo them though!

I would also agree that the nippa fluffle is great, nice secure fit. The popper fluffle however was rubbish, loose fit round the legs even when poppered tightly.

so you are a nappy-head too Grin

you have reassured me about bamboozles and think i will stick with aplix

I think the key is getting the wrap on fast, my son worked out velcro at 11 mths (he was late to cloth nappies due to ignorance on my part) and nippas by 15 mths so nothing is foolproof (tho poppers remain abit of a challenge), if he's feeling determined the whole caboodle can be off in 5 mins!

I think they get bored with it after a while and he only does this when he's really fedup with me!

The other thing to consider is who will be looking after your LO, as size 2 may have to last you 18 mths or so (I'm thinking of Grandparents with less nimble fingers and so on).

thanks vkone

anyone else used bamboozles with nippa or aplix?

"Nippa Bamboozles have now been discontinued due to some problems with the effectiveness of using Nappi Nippas with older Bamboozle nappies." they don't seem to grip aswell the older they get. is this just a problem with bamboozles or all nappies?
