Pillows and blankets

My 11mt old dd has always slept in the cot in just her pjs. Does not like blankets. As we head towards winter I was wondering a bout bedding. How old before you give them a pillow or duvet ???

I took the sides off my DS's cotbed when he'd just turned 2. He got a very flat pillow and a duvet at that point. Up til then he'd had a 1 tog sleeping bag for summer and daytime naps, and 2.5 "duvet weight" sleeping bag for winter. I used the merino kids sleeping bags which are brilliant and IMO worth the money, but you can get them much cheaper.
DS is a wriggler and at 11 months there's no way he'd have kept blankets or a duvet on!! Pillows not good for babies, their head is to big and it leads to their head being tipped forward.

Actually, DD has had a soft thin pillow since she was 10 months. She had (and still often struggles with) silent reflux and the pillow propped her up enough to keep her comfortable. It's an adult-sized pillow so it supports her from the waist up, not just from her neck. She got a lightweight duvet around the same time.

My dd would NEVER have a sleeping bag on and kicked and screamed til I took it off her. She kicks the blankets off too so when it gets colder I put her in a fleecey suit with either a vest or a normal baby grow underneath. It really depends how cold it gets as we live in a pretty cold house.

We're moving soon and her cotbed will be right by the window so I've bought her a cotbed duvet and pillow to see her through winter, she'll be 19 months then. They don't recommend those til they're over one but if its too big for the cot you can always tuck it in well and it'd be quite hard for her to kick it off

I use a baby pillow and a gro bag....
