8 week old very unsettled in the evening - any help welcome please?

Wondered if anyone had any suggestions? DD2 is 8 weeks old, BF on demand (a lot) shes a big healthy girl. She usually has a good nap in the afternoon but from dinnertime (5pm) onwards she is so unsettled. I have tried feeding her all evening she latches off then starts crying. I think she is getting her wind up ok. DP can't settle her at all and it upsets him. She will sometimes take a dummy but spits it out.

I am planning to bring her bedtime forward when shes over 12 weeks and over her jabs, never had this with DD1 so it's upsetting me?

Any ideas?????

my dd always had a really bad time from 6 till 10 in the evening.i eventually took her to cranial osteopath and started to see an improvment.may be worth looking into.was the birth relatively straightforward?

My ds is now 18 months but I remember when he was really little he used to have great fits of crying dead on 6.30 til about 8. Most people assured me this was normal and he was just "getting over the day". I think some babies do need to let off steam, remember they are so small ANY activity is stimulating for them. He used to be ok when out in the fresh air (not that feasible at the mo really!) but still need to have a cry around that time wherever we were. Maybe a bit of baby massage, relaxing bath type thing might help.

very quick straightforward birth at home

then it could be just that time of day whereshes had enough and just needs to let you all know.
not easy to go through though,and why cant we have that time where we let everyone know how we feel
might be worth looking into the osteopath though.

Ds did exactly this. from 6 o'clock onwards. Was total nightmare. Hv said it was a common problem and that BF babies snack constantly in the evening. It also could be wind.

Our lives changed dramatically when we started putting him to 'bed' at 7.30 (he was about 9 or 10 weeks) after he cried for a couple of days (for about 20 mins max) he started to go to sleep more or less straightaway and has done ever since. At the time we gave him his last feed when we went to bed (about 11ish)

It changed our lives - well it meant that we had our evenings back again :0 AND no cranky baby. I'm convinced that in those first 10 weeks he was exhauseted and all he really wanted was to go to sleep.

I had the same prob with my daughter who is 5 months now. she used to sob around the 6 o'clock mark so now i let her have a nap at 3.45 for 45 mins and then she wakes up happy. Has a play, bath and ready for bottle at 6.30pm and goes straight down for sleep at 7. It is bliss having the evenings to yourselves. You can try and wind down and recharge your batteries ready for the next day.

I always put my DD down for a third nap from about 4:30 to 5:15. (No later). It's the only way she got through happily to her bedtime at 6:30. If she missed that nap her bedtime was a screaming nightmare. How late is her afternoon sleep?

I actually believe that most of that early evening nigglyness is due to tiredness. I don't believe that they are just winding down. They are basically damn tired and need to go to bed ASAP. What's this business of some small babies only going to bed at 9 or 10pm? Seems crazy to me. (in my opinion)
