Have started potty training ds who is 3, he is going to nursery in a few weeks and they wont take him unless he is in pants. Decided to bite the bullet and today is the first day. He has weed in almost 6/7 pairs this morning he seems happy to be in pants like a big boy. He is telling me he has weed but not going on the potty or on the loo, have explained that he needs to do it on the potty.

what else can i do or is it just a waiti9ng game till he know the sensation before and tells me?

thanks

Let him go naked for a few days if he is happy too, this helped with mt DS. If he is weeing that often, not drinking a great deal, and the wees are only small amounts, it means he has no bladder control, which is normal to start with, bladder control will come later, slowly but surelySmile

it is loads, not drinking too much and now just in t shirt and pants. He also likes to wear them on his head being pirates(clean ones of course). he has started to strip himself when he is wet rather than me doing it.

let him go naked

take him to the potty every half hour

huge big fuss when he does something on it

ignore any accidents

he will wee lots and lots to begin with until he learns to store it up

much easier for them to realise what is happening if they go without pants and trousers for a while (which is why it is simpler doing it in the summer :)).

Have been taking him but nothing yet.

He doesnt like being naked so he wants to wear the pants.

Not making a fuss when he wets started saying nothing then lets try and get to the potty but nothing yet.

haha - easier without pants - DS1 HATED being without 'something' on his bottom - so we ended up going through about 7-8 pairs of pants a day for 2 weeks until it 'clicked'.

dh did say that he could have a cookie when he has done a wee on the potty but he hasnt had a cookie yet.

I know this may seem like an odd suggestion - but have you tried seeing if he'll use the toilet - it only really 'clicked' with DS1 (who was 2 weeks shy of his 3rd birthday) when we left him use the toilet - we bought one of those soft toilet seats to go over the top of ours (so he didn't feel like he'd fall in) and a little step so he could get up to it.

WE TREied TO BUY A SEAT INSERT YESterday and he flipped, he never throws a fit in public but he hated it. he has out his willy over the edge of the toilet but hasnt weed.
