Sing a song softly? Sit near her without actually going right over? Or do somethIng funny that distracts her for a minutd and makes her forget she's upset.

Put the light on and start reading a book out loud? Have a little okay with her toys near her? Make some soft toys 'talk'? Do you know the child? It would really upset my dd to wake up and fine someone she didn't know, but these ideas might eventually get her interested and stop the screaming.

Give her a biscuit and stick the TV on?

All sorted! Thank goodness for take that I say! Put on 'the garden' very quietly and sung along to it, she imediately went quiet. I then started talking to the cat and said 'do you think (girls name) would like a cuddle?'. She came over straight away. Poor little mite was boiling up, obviously coming down with something. A piece or chocolate, some calpol and a cartoon soon sorted everything out.
I am a mum myself but it's always so hard with other peoples children. Thank you everyone! Grin
