Is anyone else thinking of not gong back to work?

Situations change and well I have a beautiful 16wk old little girl and my husband has said I don't need to go back to work...
Amazing to be given this opportunity-except everyone in my Nct or other baby groups seems to be going back! I know it's early days but would love to hear from other mummies that aren't returning to work......

I won't be returning full time - I intend to work freelance but never really stopped during pregnancy/since LO was born. It's hard but I much prefer it to going back.to work as I can be with my little guy a lot

I didn't return, and I'm sure you'll find other stay at home mums/ part time mums to hang out with, it's lovely, and good on your husband for saying you don't need to go back! Enjoy your time watching her grow.

I have had eight years off with the kids but now both are at full time school I am thrilled to get my life back and do something.

I chose not to go back to work but, with hindsight, wish I'd taken on a part-time role as I found being at home full-time extremely hard.

My youngest DC is just starting in Reception and I'm back working 2 days a week, IMO the perfect set up

I didn't go back after dc1 and loved every minute. They aren't little for long and it was lovely to have that time with him. However now dc2 is here I am starting to wonder about part time hours. Having one at home is great, but I can see it being harder to find actvities to suit a pre schooler and toddler all day. Especially in winter. Currently trying to decide what to do now.

I do three days a week, DTs are 14 months and I went back when they were one. I LOVE it, I have a sense of me back. We could have managed without me going back and family do the childcare otherwise financially it wouldn't have made sense. It the right thing for me but not everyone!

Its been almost 3 years now since I had my Dc2. I didn't go back to work but I hope I did. Now, I can't decide wether to start looking for a job again(which is not easy I think) or just to be content watching my young ones grow. Yet, there's something in me that's wanting to go out. I miss being with colleagues. Im not really sure what is the best thing to do as there is really no need for me to go back to work but I'm getting bored already. Hope this helps and not add to your confusion.

I'm sure you will meet other mums who wont be going back to work as you start getting out and about at other baby classes etc. Certainly my NCT class wasn't very diverse..all 30 something professionals and yes we all went back to work.

Do think about your future plans, if you plan on working again. eg will you need to keep any qualifications or training up to date.

So many mums say they will work part time when the children are at school but these jobs are like hens teeth.

You have the right to request flexible working in your current job. Hardly any jobs are advertised as part time. Most mums I know working less than full time negotiated their full time job to part time.

If you are thinking about another baby then you will also be forgoing maternity pay.

Will your job let you take a sabbatical/career break rather than resigning fully?
