What time does your 10 month old go to bed. Dc goes down 7pm...is this too early?

Mine went to bed at 7 at that age (sometimes earlier - even 6pm on occasions when exhausted!) and would sleep through till 7 ish. They are older now but they still go to bed around 7.30

JiltedJohnsJulie · 17/09/2012 20:20

7 sounds fine, what makes you concerned?

getagoldtoof · 17/09/2012 20:21

My 11 month old will usually go about 7.30 - but about an hour each side as well. What time does your baby fall asleep? Sometimes, even though I put him down at 6.45 for eg, he won't sleep until 7.30, so I think 7.30 is his preferred natural bedtime!

Down at 7pm and asleep within minutes. She wakes between 5.30-6.30am and wondering if I should put her down later.

Well, it might work. Have a look at this article on early waking Smile.

At that age - around 6pm if I could keep him awake that long. He would have a short nap around 9am, a longer afternoon nap and then sleep 6pm-7am at that age.

Hpbp · 18/09/2012 20:34

Fuzzy, how did you manage to get your DC to sleep for longer in the afternoon ? My LO sleeps for 50 min and wakes up crying for attention, I wish She could have 2 cycles so that I can have a proper lunch and nap a bit too. She is 8 weeks though.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 19/09/2012 09:13

If DD is only 8 weeks, have you tried things like swaddling and white noise? Sometimes if they sitr after one sleep cycle you may be able to shush them into another.

Thanks Jitled, what I can't figure out is why at night there is no issue and during the day, it is an issue, the room is as ark as it is at night ? I will try your suggestions, no harm ! Thanks again.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 19/09/2012 17:17

Does she sleep in the same place? Are you in the same place as at night? Could it just be that she can't hear you when she stirs?

There is an article on napping here that you might find useful. Have you read 31 ways to get your baby to sleep and stay asleep and 8 sleep facts every parent should know?

Hpbp · 19/09/2012 17:47

Yes she sleeps at the same place for her naps and night. Could be the lack of my breathing at nap time. I will look at the articles. Thank you very much for these, Jitled
