Is it okay to give dd grown up wheatabix instead of the baby one's I've been giving? Or is there too much salt in the regular adult ones? Thank you.

Weetabix, shreddies, shredded wheat, we never really gave DD 'baby cereals' the adult versions went down much better (didn't give her the sugary or salty ones).

readybrek is a good one too DS goes mad for it and point blank refused the baby ones.

vodkaanddietirnbru · 17/09/2012 10:12

weetabix, porridge, ready brek are all fine

DamnTheManSaveTheEmpire · 17/09/2012 10:57

Thank you all. So the salt/sodium levels are safe for under 1s then?

2 whole weetabix biscuits have about 0.24g of salt (0.1g sodium) so a baby portion of ½ to 1 biscuit would have only 0.06 to 0.12g of salt so well under the maximum amount of salt advised for under 1 year (less than 1g salt per day). Ready brek has no added salt or sugar.

Great, thank you all.

We gave DS the following from about 8 months: Weetabix and porridge (made from rolled oats - not Ready Brek), and then from about 12 months: Cornflakes, Shreddies, Rice Crispies, Cheerios, Museli (he loves stealing my crunchy museli....)

Completely fineSmile, my dds loved it with warm milk and a very small bit of sugarWink

I bought some of the very expensive organic baby cereals for my PFB, it was tasty but had more sugar and salt than porridge / weetabix / mini shredded wheat / ready brek etc. My second was not so pampered!

Longdistance · 17/09/2012 13:08

Corn flakes, rice crispies, and blueberry/ apricot wheats always went down well with my two :)

Oh and Weetabix with banana. Yum!
