How much sleep does your 3yo get? Is mine tired? If not, why is she so irritating?

DD wakes at 6.45 ish, sometimes naps, sometimes doesn't. Bed at 7.30ish.

Every evening she is a nightmare. Whingy and whiney, ending in lots of meltdowns. Bed earlier doesn't seem to work. What are we doing wrong? End of tether is close.

When my DD was 3 she would get up at 6 and go to bed at around 7 but she would nap for around an hour and a half in the afternoon.

I have no idea if this helped with our DD or if she was just at going to bed but we had a very set routine at bedtime, nothing big or amazing just enough that there were no surprises, she knew what was coming, you know toilet teeth story cuddle then sleep.

We would also do a bedtime countdown, 10 min,5 min, 2min then 1min, I know that might sound silly but it always meant we didn't suddenly say right time for bed and catch her by surprise. Works for us and we use it for lots of things like leaving the park or beach etc and prevents tantrums for us.

Thanks. Her routine is structured, the same since she was tiny. Hmmmmm

My just 3yo gets about 12 hrs at night with no sleep during the day but I do find that about 12-1 and 6-7 she needs some rest time so we do jigsaws, watch tele, read books to stop the crazy coming out!

Same as me. If she gets very whingey during the day I drive round the block and she is asleep even after proclaiming she is not tired. I do give her a nudge after 20 mins so bedtime isnt later Grin

Mine sleeps 12 1/2 to 13 1/2 hours a night but nothing in the day. Same as Niamh said though need some wind down time after dinner to stop the bouncing off the walls.
