As we cycled home today DD2 was resting her head on DD1's shoulder. It made me practically tear up. I have brothers, who I am close to, but I have always wanted a sister & am so happy that my girls have each other. Obviously I know that they will might fight like cats & gods, but what things do you think promote a close sibling relationship?

Involving child number 1 as much as possible we found.

2 nights ago my 11 month old DD spent 2 hours screaming in the early hours with teething pains. When her 3.6 yr old sister got up and came into the room DD2 held out her hand to her and when her sister took it she stopped crying and her whole face lit up. I got sooo emotional :-)

I experienced it with my twins last week.
They normally fight like car and dog but dt1 cut her head open at nursery and I was called in. On the the home (to nanny's to leave dt2 whilst going to hospital to be glued) they held hands and dt2 kept reassuring dt1 that she would be ok.
So sweet, and normal service was resumed a few hours later. Grin
