DD is 6 weeks and covered over her face , behind ears, down her neck in spots. HV guessed baby acne , she is fine in herself but it looks awful :( it's taking up e every bit of her face :(. Should I bother with GP?

DD had this at same age, very extensively, up to a point it is completely normal but it is possible that it can get infected - make sure she has scratch mits on. Personally I would see the GP to assess at this point in time if its in the normal range and then if it gets worse you have a bench mark and can go back to see the Dr. From memory it cleared up about 8 wks and I was recommended to put some cream on it but you need to be careful that the cream allows her skin to breath... I cant remember if sudocreme was good or not!!

My son had this too, it looked awful! His doctor recommended washing it with soapy water (using very mild liquid baby soap). I used cotton wool to massage it on him and then rinse it off very well. It was like doing gentle exfoliation treatment. It worked for us!

I agree with fairybaby. DD2 had it quite badly on her face when she was tiny. I used a moistened cotton wool with a slick of baby soap on it and gently wiped it across the affected areas. It really did help.

Someone walked over to see her today went to rub her face and sort of looked as if to say eewwww maybe not :( it doesn't look nice at all and is quite raised my other two DD's never had this :( think it's GP tommorow. As it's drying up it's leaving little black marks almost like it's scabbing over

Please take him to the docs, my ds had Baby acne and everyone said it was because he was over due which meant he had more hormones. He was seen by 3 h.v and a paedation ( for something unrelated )who all told me it was fine.

I took him to a different Heath centre and the h.v said as it was raised, scabby and the scabs were amber ish in colour it was infected and I must take him today to docs.

Doc said was infected and he had to have antibiotics, antibiotic cream and another cream and I was told to take him back if it didn't clear up in a week.

I was so annoyed as 4 others had said it was fine.

My ds, now 2.2, had very bad acne. Lasted a couple of weeks so. I did not out anything on it at all and did not take him to GP. It cleared up all by itself, completely, and now I look at his flawless silky soft skin and I think I made the right decision for us.

Cheekychops84 · 16/09/2012 15:25

Apparently it's eczema it's very dry I think it started out as acne I don't no I'm really confused I don't no what it is now :(

Visiting the GP is the best option,.to make sure about your baby's condition and also free you from worry. Smile

MrsHuxtable · 16/09/2012 18:17

The GP won't do anything. It's a waiting game. As long as the spots aren't infected, there's nothing that can be done.

DD had them too. I was so upset. You always expect your baby to have perfect skin. And then she hadn't. It went away after 5-6 weeks all by itself. She's now perfect!

MrsHuxtable · 16/09/2012 18:19

Just read you up-date.

Well acne and eczema are 2 different things. Eczema needs to be moisterised. DO take him to the gP to find out what exactly it is.

Cheekychops84 · 16/09/2012 19:02

GP said it's both ?

What did the GP say you should do?

I'd find that really confusing as advice for acne is to do nothing but eczema of course you can't leave?

Anyway, I wouldn't stress about it (though I did as well at the time). I'm suer your baby's skin will be perfect again before you know it.

To apply the cream twice a day ? It's looking much better today though, thank goodness cause it was ghastly last week.
