Can someone tell me when they weaned there babe off a bottle onto a beaker when giving them their milk. My sister said she used to put her little boy down in his cot with a beaker of milk for him to give himself. .

my DD is 2 in may, she still has a bottle at bedtime and in morning, basicly for her milk.
was going to try and get rid of it, but she finds it such a comfort, and she doesnt have any other comforters, so im not going to force her just yet.

my ds was about 22 months.

6 motnhs for the older two, but soem babies like their bottles. The dts still have them mornign and night with milk. I found the easiest thing to do was to introduce juice or water in the cup and leave the bottles for milk.

Same as izzybiz, ds - 19 months - still has bedtime and morning milk in a bottle. I've tried getting him to have it from a cup but he doesn't drink it and I'd prefer he drinks his milk than to make a stand. He drinks water etc during the day from a beaker.

8 mths

dd was 6 months when I started giving her some from a beaker with lid, and from a cup without a lid at 8 months (only when she was in highchair with full "protective gear" on)

a day or two after his first birthday. i used the magic cup spouts with an ordinary bottle for a week or so - jsut so he could see it was his milk and to introduce it gradually - then switched to magic cups proper. i was expecting it to be very difficult as he LOVED his bottles with a passion, but he was perfectly happy with it.

Jess is nearly 20 months and still has a bottle at bedtime and nap time.

has water and juice in a beaker.

2.5
Although she only had 2 bottles a day from 16 mths after I stopped breastfeeding, mostly as she had to take a supplement and it was the quickest way of giving it to her.
She drunk water out of an open cup from 6 mths.
I just chucked her bottles out - she dropped intake but gradually it came back up again within a week.

ds3 thinks a beaker is a very good way of sprinkling fluids all over the kitchen. Still breastfed though
so I haven't really made a big effort to teach him. He's 13 months.

My DD never had a bottle and went straight to beakers when I stopped breastfeeding at 8/9 months. She was already used to using them for water with her meals and didn't bother her at all. I started her off on the Tommee Tippee First Cups and now she has Avent Magic Cups, with the green spout and handles.
