DS is 2 and for the last month or so, has woken up every single night soaked through.

Cue complete nappy, pj and bed change and both of us struggling to get back off to sleep. We are both exhausted !

Does anyone have any recommendations for super absorbent nappies or other tips please.

Have you tried going up a size in nappies?

Tillyscoutsmum · 11/09/2012 14:12

He's in the biggest already (size 6). He's huge Smile

Does he drink much before bed?

Have you started toilet training yet?

sittinginthesun · 11/09/2012 14:16

How much is he drinking before bed? My DS1 was like this at 14 months, and we ended up cutting back on his bedtime milk. He was always very hungry (still is, at 8 years!), and was just drinking too much. As soon as I cut back, the wetting stopped.

Now I am "told" haven't checked for myself yet that mothercare do some bigger nappies, if you go by weight..might be worth checking that out - try the website maybe? I expect to be in same boat very soon, its touch and go now!

TheLaineyWayIsEssex · 11/09/2012 14:19

I am not sure there is one perfect nappy that works for everyone.
some tips (sorry if you have already tried them)
Use pull ups - then you don't have to worry about the sidebits/cuffs not joining up properly
make sure his bits are pointing downwards
Use 2 nappies (one to keep the other in place) - we did this for a while when ds first started rolling over/crawling as he began to move so much at night he would wake up soaked but a virtually dry nappy Hmm
reduce fluids from 4pm (if it is sheer volume of wee making nappy leak

Tillyscoutsmum · 11/09/2012 17:19

Thanks all. Have tried cutting back on fluids a bit but it's hard. He's not easily fooled and knows he's not getting as much milk ! Will definitely try a double nappy though

Toilet training is a work in progress. A bit hit and miss but I do try and get him to go before bed.

Thanks again

If he's a heavy wetter at night, maybe try upping his fluids in the day? My DS1 wasn't dry at night until he was 11 - and making sure he drank more during the day seemed to make his bladder a capable of holding a bit more during the night.

Also, I have a brand new, unopened pack of huggies dry nites here - they're big ones, age 8-15 but FFP if you would like them?

memphis83 · 11/09/2012 17:40

Pull ups do a night time one that is more absorbent, we haven't had a leak for a week on these. We have also started dropping his milk a tiny amount every night

URMyDinosaur · 11/09/2012 18:27

Ds was like this. We change his nappy bout ten o clock before we go to bed and this helps the next nappy last till morning. He's showing no signs of being potty trained day or night so we will do this until he is.

Tillyscoutsmum · 11/09/2012 19:21

Thanks again. Have tried double nappy tonight and less milk. If not, will give the nighttime Huggies a go

Bunny - thank you so much for your kind offer. I think they'll be way too big for him though.

Remember, if you use a double nappy method you must rip or cut a slit into the lining of the first nappy at the back.

I know it sounds obvious Blush

Tillyscoutsmum · 12/09/2012 13:11

Ahhhh yes. That should've been obvious shouldn't it BlushBlush. Will try again tonight !

I did it with some incontinent adults and it worked quite well.
