Joint party for a 3yo & 6yo...?

I have 2 DDs who's birthdays are just 1 week apart. Their next birthdays are on a Wednesday which gives me a nice weekend right in the middle that I was considering having a joint party on. The problem is - how do you entertain a group of 5-6yos and a group of 2-3yo at the same time?

For DD1s 3rd birthday we had a softplay party but I'm guessing that would be a bit 'babyish' for the 5-6yos (also I'm a bit nervous about letting a bunch of boisterous 5-6yos loose on a bouncy castle with a group of 2-3yos Confused).

If it was a party for DD1 alone then I would probably go for a DJ/children's entertainer with party games but I don't know if this would hold the attention of the 2-3yos...?

So - has anyone got any ideas on how I can keep both sets of party guests entertained (& safe!) or am I just better off having 2 parties until they're a bit older..?

How strange, my dd's birthdays are also a week apart, on a wednesday and I'm having a joint party for them the weekend in between :)

Anyway, I'm probably not much help as my dd's are only going to be 1 and 3 but could you get a hall with a bouncy castle and then have music / party games for anyone that wants them? The little ones might manage musical statues or pass the parcel (that's what I'm going to do with mines anyway).
