Just that really.
He's still weeing, farting, feeding (ebf) as normal and doesn't seem uncomfy.
Surely that can't be right though... Can it?!

I don't know, I'd get him to the doctor asap just to be on the safe side, it doesn't sound right at all.

AnyFucker · 29/08/2012 00:10

Please take him to the hospital

aleene · 29/08/2012 00:14

That does not sound right at all. Even if he does not seem uncomfy you must get medical advice, asap.

Before you totally panic, breastfed babies do not poo every day, my daughter went six days and it was just because there is such little waste with breastmilk. I would however make an appointment with the gp just in case as that is a bit longer.

AnyFucker · 29/08/2012 00:24

it is normal for bf babies to not do a BM for up to a week

but 11 days is too many

you need to seek medical advice

if baby is well...not lethargic, still feeding, weeing, with a soft tummy then it doesn't need to be tonight

but you really must see a doctor tomorrow am

tutu100 · 29/08/2012 00:31

According to my mum, when she was bf my db he went 3 weeks without a poo, but 2 weeks of that he was being monitored by the hospital. they were just deciding whether they should do something to make he poo when he finally went of his own accord.

It is probably ok, but I would take him to see the GP tomorrow. Hopefully though you'll get a poo tsunami before then.

Bunsouttheoven · 29/08/2012 00:33

My ebf dd didn't poo for 10 days. No emergency, Kelly mom says can be 10 days + & ok if weight gain is ok, wet nappies, happy baby etc

Bunsouttheoven · 29/08/2012 00:35

Forgot to say this applies to babies 6 weeks plus

Napdamnyou · 29/08/2012 01:56

Mine famously did 21 days...

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/breast_and_bottle_feeding/1196877-EBF-DS-has-not-done-a-poo-for-a-fortnight/AllOnOnePage

It was poowatch on MN then poonami...

:)

All was well. HTH.

Wommer · 29/08/2012 03:38

Thanks all. Will phone the doc in the a.m.
I did speak to nhs direct at 5 days and they didn't think that it was a prob then. Hadn't a clue that we weren't even half way then though!
Nap that's amazing!!

My DS was a one-poo-a-week/every-10-days kind of little guy at about that age.

hopefully nothing to worry about but get him checked anyway.

if you take him to the doctors, take LOADS of wipes/extra nappies/change of clothes for you and him, coz tomorrow may well be poonami day Grin

piprabbit · 29/08/2012 03:52

Going for weeks days without a poo was normal for my DS, but do get checked out if you are worried.

In the meantime, make sure you carry extra nappy changing kit at all times (complete outfit for baby+extra wipes+change of clothes for you+plastic bags for getting pooey stuff home) as the tidal flood of poo exploding up the back of his babygrow was awesome once it arrived.

Nandocushion · 29/08/2012 04:16

I'd get him checked too. In the meantime, start preparing for the Apoocalypse.

Wommer · 29/08/2012 15:29

Thanks all for the advice!
Was waiting for a call back from the dr when the drought ended!
Wasn't an explosion as such but dear god did it stink!

My EBF DS3 only poo'd about once every 10 days at that age. The last 24 hours or so before each poo would be a fart storm followed by an avalanche of poo but he was always fine :D He's five now and goes at least once a day :D

lljkk · 29/08/2012 20:49

Once every 2 weeks is not that unusual for breastfed. Expect mothers of all blowouts, though.

Wommer · 29/08/2012 21:58

Yup just had round 2... Obv he waited until after his bath! Wondering how much more there is to come....Confused

Thing is, he's do tiny - I don't know where he's been keeping it!

My DS only used to poo once every 10 days or more, but when he pooed he REALLY pooed! It was a ruined outfit each time. He used to do a huge poo so I'd start changing his (full to bursting) nappy, and then more and more would come shooting out (all over friends' floors, usually). It was bizarre.
