The room my new baby boy will be moving into is needing fully redecorated including filling holes in the walls etc. We were just going to use good lining paper then pain it but can't decide on colours. I'm not keen on blues as think they're a bit cold. I found this wallpaper border:

I like it but would like some opnions and what colour of walls would you put with it? The room is a small double size with pine furniture.

Pale blue? Or if you're not keen on blue how about yellow or a minty apple green?

LemonBreeland · 28/08/2012 13:27

I would go for a green to match the green in the border, or a yellow.

I'd just do it white. Did that in ds's room and it looks really nice; peaceful and fresh.

Both DCs (ds and dd) have yellow rooms.

My boys room is a lovely shade of blue my niece says it's like being inside the sky :)

What about a deeper shade of the cream in the background?

My DS has a taupe type colour on his walls that is accessorised mostly with stone and brown at the moment, but will also work with navy if he chooses 'boys' colours as he gets older.

Go for something you like too, he'll be too little to notice for a while Smile

My sister had used those boarders and her decorators say for them to work you really need to pick out a colour used in the boarder, it will look cohesive that way and not like you have just slapped something random on. Good luck deciding! Or white walls could work too...

I'd probably go for the cream coloured background if I was going to try for coordination, but generally I pick paint colours based on the light in the room. My children had a bright yellow room as babies (it was a very large but a bit gloomy), and then when they got bigger we went for white walls with stencils of their choice (dd had big multicoloured daisies and ds had a bit of a space theme).

I would go with white or one of those "I can't believe it isn't white" colours.

Go for boring old White and a big cork board. Baby will probably spend less time in there than you imagine and children's tastes and obsessions change fast. Before you know it the walls will be covered with Thomas the tank engine/moshi monsters/Lego/football/music posters... Invest in blu tak Grin

White or a pale apple green (DSs room is green, we decorated before he was born and we didn't know if boy/girl). The green goes well with the jungle/animal theme we have
