12 week old sleeping?

Hello, Just wondering if anyone can advise. My DD is 12 weeks today and is EBF. She currently goes to bed at 7.30pm, I then feed her at 10pm, then every night she is up at 1.30-2am, 4.30/5am then up for the day about 6.30/7am.
I keep reading that at this age she should be able to sleep without a feed for much longer than she currently is. She is getting a full feed, in that she refuses to take anymore at these times. Read that you should offer her the second breast, do that when she comes off after feeding and winding but she simply refuses therefore I assume is full.
Anyone have the same issues? Is this normaly with EBF babies?

Sounds pretty normal to me. We get a similar longer stretch (3 to 4 or even once or twice 5 hours) at the start of the night then pretty much as you describe.

I find the most helpful thing this time (ds2 is 10 weeks ebf) and with my older son when he was doing the same is to stop worrying about expectations and just work on acceptance that this is how it is just now but it won't last forever.

Where are you reading this btw? There's some right ill informed bollocks about breastfed babies in some of the baby manuals.

Good sources of info about breastfed babies - kellymom website, lll website, analytical armadillo. The breast and bottle feeding board on here is great too.

Oh and mine only ever really take/took one side.

Cosleeping makes it much less hassle for me.

Ignore the books! Breastfed babies often feed every two hours around the clock until they're much older than 12 weeks. If you're only getting up twice in the night you're doing very well indeed.

Thanks guys. I thought it was normal. She isn't waking for anything other than food thats why I thought it was normal. You are right, sources are books which seem to say DD should be able to sleep a lot longer than she does. Didn't make sense to me as she used to wake every 2 hours so I thought she was doing well sleeping so long now.

Lots of babies BF or FF can't go very long my DS in almost 7mo and still has 7oz at 7pm 3-5 oz at 1 and 3-5 at 5am.

Ignore the books

I see the problem here.

You've not made DD read the book

Hello!
Just to say my DD is 11 and a half weeks and virtually exactly the same timings as your's. I'm not too bothered (apart from when she just won't settle back down after the 2am feed Angry) and am just chuffed that we finally seem to have moved on from cluster feeding and I get a significant part of the evening to myself Smile
