Can you go from crib type cot to toddler bed without cotbed?

ReallyTired is this your washing machine?

OP, DS had a cotbed and had the bars took off at 18 months.

DD is still in a cot at 2 and a half (with the bars off) because her room is tiny She'll be going into a single bed soon when she moves into her borthers room.

19 months for DD & 17 months for DS from cot to single bed. Pleased to say no falls and no up & down or messing about once in bed at night. Don't see the point in toddler beds at all.

I am thinking about washing the actual duvet, not just the cover. When a child has toilet accident it tends to soak EVERYTHING. A cloth duvet cover offers little protection.

My son is still in a cot at 2.6. He's not attempted to get out yet so we figure leave him in it. Plus it's where he has his time outs & I don't have the energy to think about a naughty step right now Blush

I have an average size washing machine and can easily fit a single duvet into it for washing if I needed to. I just cannot imagine spending money on toddler bed duvet sets for only a few years. It just seems a total waste of money when they end up needing a big bed before long!

Now if it was my king sized duvet on the other hand, I'd really struggle to fit that into a washing machine at home. That would be a laundrette job..

DS1 went from cot into standard adult single bed at 18 months (needed the cot for DS2)
Then they went into bunk beds aged 4 & 2
They both managed fine & love their big beds
