DS1 at dinner today:

'I hate the English, they're all scum'

us (shocked) 'but we ARE English, we just live in Wales'

@I don't want to be English, X (Headmistress) doesn't like me using the word English' (English whispered)'they're smelly scum'

Always worked hard to eliminate any signs of racism in this house, then they start to be racist against ourselves!!!!!

Um... I'd have a word with the head.

It is possible he's misunderstood - ie she doesn't like using "english" when it should be "welsh" although I'm not sure where the smelly scum comes into it...

yes I think the scum word kinda blows it up a bit.... not exactly a word I regularly use in conversation!!!!! I'm the dippy hippy non-judgemental type to an extreme

It's not a word I can imagine a head using - is she the sort of person who'd use the word "scum"?? It's just such an odd word for someone like that to use.
