Ear piercing question...

Hi, My five year old daughter recently had her ears pierced. The lady that did them, told me that she could take the studs out and replace with new ones after four weeks. It has been four weeks now, and tonight I tried to take them out, but she stared to cry and said they hurt - so I left them.

She has had not problems since having them. No infection, red or swollen ears, and has never until now complained.

Has anyone else had this? Should it be OK by now or do you think four weeks is too soon?

Thanks in advance
Niamh

I thought it was normally 6 weeks until you first removed them

Every time I've had my ears pierced (4 times in each ear), I've been told to wait 6 weeks. Leave them another 2 weeks and try again.

My dd had them done 2 weeks ago, on the aftercare letter it says you can change them after 6 months.

I would leave them a couple of months or more best to give it more time that not enough

When I was a grown up and had my ears pierced they said 6 weeks.

FelicitywasSarca · 16/08/2012 21:56

Min 6 weeks, I'd probably leave it longer.

Thanks everyone! I'll leave it another two weeks before I try

When my daughter had them done last year it said 6 weeks to change them straight away and 6 months to leave them out. I remember it being 6 weeks when I had them done too.

Valpollicella · 16/08/2012 22:42

Gah. When I had mine done I had to have them in for 12 weeks. Aged 4 yo

6 weeks sounds like the most common waiting time. I assumed she'd be fine as she had never complained. She's desperate to wear her new studs!!

I would leave her original ones in as long as possible tbh.
