2 year old won't go to sleep at night

We recently moved house and ever since my 2 year old has been a nightmare going to sleep. He goes to bed no problem but then we spend the next 2 hours putting him back in bed. He's either playing or shouting for me, my husband or his brother. There's a stair gate on his door so he can't get out of his room. Before we moved he'd go to sleep fine. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Does he still nap? DS did this while he was growing out of his. We just had to put up with it for a while (at first the nap didn't seem to make a difference because without it he was overtired and didn't sleep any better). As soon as he grew out of his nap properly it sorted itself out.

So not much help, really!!

He does still nap. I was expecting him to stop wanting a nap at the normal time like ds1 did but maybe it is that rather than the move. I appreciate you trying to help. Between moving, changing jobs, new school for ds1 at the end of my tether.

My DD started to wake up at 2.5 after being a totally fab sleeper & I worked out that it was because my DH was turning the night light off after checking on her before we went to bed! However she couldn't tell us so she cried, just a thought that if you have moved house there maybe something he's not so happy about & is unsettled by it? Could also be that he doesn't need a nap anymore or that he's just being a 2 year old & testing the boundaries!

Well we dropped the nap and he's a lot better. Still taking a while to settle but nowhere near as bad as he was. Went swimming today so was asleep within minutes after a brief stint of calling for his brother. He's good at testing boundaries lately that's for sure!
