Hello - to cut a long story short I bought a pack of 20 pop in washable nappies last October just before my son was due. I felt committed to using washable nappies and read LOADS of reviews, these seemed to get lots of good feedback and there was an offer on so I spent quite a big lump of money on them. In hindsight I probably should have tried one or two before getting so many but I thought I'd be decisive ahead of his birth rather than try to sort it out when he was newborn, knowing I'd have enough on my plate by then
My son is now 9 months old. Since he was born we have almost always used Bambo bio degradable ones which are absolutely brilliant. I keep trying to use the washable pop-ins and I never seem to have any success. I am trying not to be in denial about this situation because I spent so much money on them thinking I would be saving myself money in the long run and not adding to landfill.
I contacted the company earlier in the year after struggling for a while with them - they were very sweet and gave me some suggestions of how to get the best results. I saw some improvement, ie, less leaking but now he is 9 months old they hardly seem to go around his waist unless I pull them tighter than feels right.
He is still on breastmilk as well as solids and has lovely chunky thighs but he's really not a fat baby. I thought these nappies were supposed to last for a couple of years?! I know he'll change shape and get longer as he starts crawling and moving about more but he won't get any smaller and I am feeling really disheartened by the whole thing.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom for me....I don't want to give up on washable nappies and since I have spent almost £200 on this type I don't feel I can buy another brand unless I can somehow sell these ones on. (even though they haven't had much use and are therefore in great condition!) booo...help!
