It had to be fish didn't it!!!!

Anyway, we've moved temporarily into rented accomodation with blooming posh/thick carpets. Apart from the obvious water bucket etc which dh did last night what else can I do. In the houses we've owned, being a chronic asthmatic, we normally rip the carpets out and go floorboards/laminate so I've not really encountered this problem before. The smell this morning is eye watering!!! I've bought a carpet shampoo which you have to whisk and then scrub the carpet using a brush and the foam. You then wait until its dry and vacuum. I don't see how this is removing the problem, surely its just coating it in another smell (and not very well so far). It has warnings all over it about not using too much in case you leave a water stain! Dh has suggested by a Vax, but that's 169.99 pounds which just seems overkill and besides we DON'T have the money.

So what do you do to get rid of the smell???

um, something to do with absorbing odours etc.

It also works in the fridge if it is pongy.
And cat litter trays.
And stinky shoes.

desperateSCOUSEwife · 09/03/2006 12:32

dont know why or how it works

Vinegar solution (white vinegar obviously) also works wonders.
