D.I.S.C.O. Aspergers diagnostic interview?

Hi,
This is a method for diagnosing Aspergers. Has anyone been through this or knows what's involved? I know it's an interview, but what sort of questions get asked and what are they looking for? Is there anywhere online I can download the questions or the suiff they're looking for?

Not been through it, but this might help? www.autism.org.uk/our-services/diagnosing-complex-needs/the-diagnostic-interview-for-social-and-communication-disorders-disco.aspx There's links to more detailed info through there Smile

Hi thanks Berris I've read the stuff on the NAS site, but all I can find anywhere is that it's an interview. I can't find anyone saying what sort of questions they ask or a link to examples of questions or whatever or anyone's actual experience of doing it (only one writeup by a mum whose small boy had it done) My husband is having it done and I've been asked to go along but I want to know what they'll want to know from me, as if i'm put on the spot I know I'll struggle to recall examples of his behaviour that fit their diagnostic criteria but oh boy he is SO aspie....

Right, don't know if this link will work - I accessed the PDF using my ATHENS log in onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/1469-7610.00023/full - gives explanation of it. Not sure if it will help?

Berris · 09/08/2012 23:06

I suspect I can see it because I'm still logged in to ATHENS....

Hi Berris what's Athens? Yeah i can't see it unless i log in via Athens.
Flooded maybe you're right....

University access to various scholarly articles - I work in HE and also a Masters student.

I do think Flooded might be right. Don't worry about being on the spot - the DISCO is, after all, a diagnostic interview, not a test.

divey · 10/08/2012 19:27

It's for my husband. Am just worried I'll not recall a single example of his AS behaviours if I'm put on the spot!

They interview me too apparently. in kids they interview the parents too as we know what their behaviours are like better than they do really

Phone the NAS helpline (on Monday), see if they can advise?

I know what you mean about the masking - my DP (diagnosed AS as a child) says I'm more diagnosable than him, because he can disguise/hide his AS-ness. I don't know if I have AS, or just distinct traits.
