recommendations for mobile above changing table and cot...

my LO is 10 weeks old and I want to get him something to look at when he is lying in his cot during the day or lying on the change table. Which one would you recommend and why?

also are the mobile mobiles (or arches), which can be fixed to car seats & travel cots, worth getting?

Thanks

I haven't put ours up yet and dd2 is already 6 months!

But I did like a Chicco one in the supermarket changing room, but the silly bit was it had to be wound by hand to get the music playing, so one hand to hold it still and the other Hand to wind it, I needed a third hand to keep a hold on baby.

So I got a wooden one that can be tapped with a finger and it just wobbles about. No music either. Now if I could just put it up. Don't suppose a thumb tack would hold it?

Have an arch over the cradle that dd1 cared nothing for and dd2 enjoyed but she's already grown out of. The toys come off it so they are played with still. Arch was a Taf Taf brand.

I wouldn't bother. He'll be rolling soon.

How long is he in the cot for? I used to have a book propped on the side so he would look at it while on his side. As for on the change mat - they have my mug to look at Grin

We bought this one and my LO loves it www.mothercare.com/Tiny-Love-Nature-Serenade-Mobile/358124,default,pd.html?cm_sp=ProductFeatures--Category%2520landing--Tiny%2520Love%2520Nature%2520Serenade%2520Mobile. The mobile arm detaches so it becomes a nightlight and music box for when the baby gets older.

My LO is now 7 months and listens to the music box every night and goes off to sleep looking at the frog night light.

It was quite pricey but has been one of the best things we bought.

The Fisher Price Rainforest one is really nice (if they still do it - bought ours 15 months ago!), too. Like the one above it converts to music box/nightlight later on, and as a mobile there's lots to look at for the baby (dd loved it and would kick her legs with excitement). The music is really gentle too, classical stuff and quiet rainforest noises, and lasts for about 15 mins before turning itself off. It only attaches to the top of a cot though, wouldn't fit to our changing table. She still uses the music box now at 16mo and can turn the music/light on herself, so we've got good value out of it.

My dts are 6 months old and have just gone into their cots. Theres been a mobile above the changing table which they have loved since birth and I loved them for it. However... they are now above the cots and whilst it stops the crying they get distracted. They wake up more (playtime) and they wake early and laugh and the toys (not always as cute as it sounds). I would see how dc reacts if dc is over the moon with mobile above changing table (kicking legs squealing) I would not put one over cot. If dc's eyes glaze over and look sleepy I would buy 1000 mobiles to put over cot (weeps at lessons not learnt)...

Oh and we have these bright star arches on car seat handles which they love they are well worth it especially they ones that squeak etc distracts them from crying in car (not so worried about sleeping then). They are noe expensive at all.

Thank you ladies!
Where can I get the star arches mentioned for his car seat? They sound v interesting.

We got a tiny love take along musical mobile to clamp above his change mat - currently he shows no interest! However the cheap black & white card cut out shape mobile above his day crib HE LOVES! Shakes the crib to make the shapes move and chatters away.

Sorry have just looked again and they are actually made by RedKite I think they came from Tesco or something but Im sure you can look online for them too. There are loads of stuff like that you could just attach toys to the handle too.
