Hitting head on side of cot and waking up

My 18 month old moves around quite a lot in her sleep and often accidentally bashes her head against the side of the cotbed, which often results in her waking up and taking ages to get back to sleep again.

Any suggestions on what we can do to soften the blow when she does this? Obviously cot bumpers are out as she could use them as a step to climb out of the cotbed.

Our 2 year old has a bumper and has never managed to climb out of her cotbed. There's no way she could use it as a step, it's too squishy, it would just collapse under her weight.

Thanks Some0ne - perhaps I'll give a cot bumper a go after all.

When I take a peek at her just before going to bed myself, if she has moved to the edge of the cot, I never know whether to try moving her back into the middle and risk disturbing her, or leave her be and be on tenterhooks waiting for the inevitable bang, "wahahahh... mama!"

DS2 is the same, I find a rolled up blanket against the bars (poked through the ends to keep it in place) does a better job than the cot bumper we tried. HTH Smile

We have

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0046ZB6W6/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0046ZEKWE&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=0QHYDSJ745MDFSKJRZRA

you can get big or small depending on the width of your cot bars.

We needed two packs though so quite expensive.

Have you seen Airwrap?
Not strong enough to be successfully used to climb out (I'd imagine, my DS isn't a climber...yet) but padded enough to stop head butting hurting enough to wake them.

I've been using bumpsters (bought on amazon) that Velcro around the cot bars. Not particularly cheap but if it means one night waking instead of 5, it's worth the money!
