She wants something computery. I am loathe to go for a DS as it's costly and she will no doubt break it (clumsy doesn't even begin to describe DD!). I also don't really want her to have one, for completely irrational pfb reasons!!!

But I am wondering if the leappad/innotab things are now too young for her. A friend mentioned the TAG readers, but again think they might be too young, as she is beginning to read by herself. She is adament she wants some kind of computer item though, although is completely computer game naive so has no idea what it actually is she wants Confused.

DH thinks just get the DS, but I'm not so sure......

How about a digital camera? This one has in-built games and looks sturdy. www.amazon.co.uk/Vtech-Kidizoom-Digital-Camera-122853/dp/B004WINUWG/ref=pd_rhf_gw_shvl1

My clumsy clot (8) has an old itouch. It used to belong to someone else and we inherited it. It's got a rubber bumper on it.

We have a ds too as a family but she's not interested in it really.

You might be better off getting a laptop or pc thst she can use. There's some great websites. My dd loves cool maths.

Thanks. She already has a digital camera (Vtech I think). This is why she wants a proper 'computery thing' as she likes the camera games but wants something better Confused.

I wasted a lot of money on Leapfrog when he wanted the `real thing' my DS has dropped his DS lots of times they are very robust.
We got an ipad from Father Christmas between us hahaha and he got a wii when he was 3 - used all, all of the time.
