My ds3 had his Tonsills removed yesterday and was kept in hospital over night. I am wondering how long the recovery period may be? they had suggested to him in isolation-away from crowds etc for the next two weeks that but I wanted to hear from anyone with experience how long it may take until he starts to suffer less pain and is feeling like himself again any advice would be greatly appreciated many thanks!!!!

Hi Isobelle,
My ds had his out just after 3rd birthday and being honest he did take the two weeks to recover. I had been so worried about the op/anaesthetic that I hadn't realised how much pain he'd be in so it was a bit of a shock. He woke every 2hours during the night and I'd already given max pain relief during the day. I asked doc and pharmacist about giving something stronger but they said to persevere and make sure he ate and drank. I got in all the stuff I wouldn't normally buy to tempt him and found haribo good to get him to chew which apparently helps. It was a horrible couple of weeks but worth it due to the benefits. He had bad sleep apnoea which has been resolved. I hope you have an easier time and the op has a good result.
