Took DS to the park today (2yrs 3months). He was playing quite happily with a 'car' climbing frame type thing when 2 other boys (5 or 6 yrs old) jumped on and started saying, 'lets make it shake so he falls off' Sad

Now, I know they were only 5/6 yrs old but I was quite miffed, not to mention a bit Shock that they said it in front of me!

DS has had this sort of thing but never reacted/ didn't really understand it as malicious, but today he was clearly upset.

I said to 'all', 'play nicely'
They then followed up with saying 'you're stupid!' to DS Shock Sad
So, I glared Angry but didn't say anything more and they soon moved on.

How would you handle it?

I would just take my kid and walk away. Have come accross it so many times. Brats.

I would have held onto the the climbing frame said "no, you won't" and done the DS' mummy death glare until they let go and walked away. If they wouldn't, I'd have lifted DS out and said "let's go and find something else to do as these boys don't seem to want to play nicely. What a shame for them."

Passive agressive parent of a PFB then! Grin

If their mothers were nearby, I'd have called to one of them, and politely pointed out that her DS seemed to have a problem sharing or playing nicely (not quite true but at least likely to get her over to talk) and most parks are near enough to shops to provide DS with an ice cream as a distraction if the little scroats older boys continued being unpleasant.

Usually these groups have a ring leader, so focus your comments to them first, then the others.

I'd have done the evil death-stare like fire or if I could see their parents, I'd have spoken to them about it. I wouldn't have even been tempted to threaten to tell Santa Grin
