She really does. Not sure if it means she's dehydrated & her piss stinks, or that the nappies are in need of stripping... whatever that is. anyone else's baby smell like an old tramp?

Or indeed, anyone have wise words on stripping nappies & when one needs to do it?

How old is your baby? If the wee smells bad then s/he could possibly have a uti? Or has baby always smelt strong?

RillaBlythe · 18/07/2012 15:04

Hmm. She's 10 months. It hasn't always smelt strong.... It has only come on the past fortnight maybe.

Maybe just get her urine dipped at the drs just to rule it out :) it has been warm and maybe she just needs to drink a little more but no harm in taking her to a dr Just to be on safe side.

RillaBlythe · 18/07/2012 15:37

How would they dip her urine, do you know?

When they needed a sample in hospital of my dd's urine they taped like a bag to her genitals :( it wasn't nice but it helped to diagnose the eating uti she had. They might however say to collect a pot and try and catch it or use a potty depending in how sterile the sample needs to be

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 18/07/2012 15:54

Eating? Damn phone was meant to say raging

For the nappies do you do a cold rinse with White vinegar before you wash? I have found doing that and only air drying really helps. I don't know how you would strip a nappy though... Also you don't need as much detergent as normal which also helps

SpagBoltTheFastestManOnEarth · 31/07/2012 08:25

I strip washed my nappies using a dishwasher tablet and lots of rinses. Only the inners, not the wraps.

They smelt much better :)

FundusCrispyPancake · 31/07/2012 08:27

I agree with slinky about the rinse first. I stopped doing it for a while and DD stank of pee. Went back to rinsing and the smell is now gone.
