Sharing a bedroom

Hi, I have one DD, currently 13 months and we are excitedly waiting for DC2, due in Jan next year (so the age gap will be about 1 year 7 months).

We live in a smallish two bed house and really hoping not to have to move.

So, my question is, how has it worked out for others who have had DCs sharing a bedroom from a small age? My hope is that we will have the new baby in with us in a Moses basket for three/four months as we did for DD, but beyond that, we'll put them in together in two cots.

Any tips on how this works (same bedtime routine etc right from the start?) or hints about older / younger one going down first? Anyone been ok with doing night feeds of a tiny one in the same room as an older sleeping sibling?

Thanks all

Hiya,

We have two boys exactly a year apart who've been sharing a room for quite a while, and so far without any great problems.

They share the same routine and bedtime stories/songs etc. I think they find having someone else in their room quite comforting even though they refuse to share anything else.

The only problem was going from cot to bed but we took the plunge and switched them both at the same time (albeit a little early for our youngest) but as I say, so far so good!

Maybe we got lucky but all our fears have proven unfounded so I say go for it, they'll know no difference!

Good luck,
Mark
