My DD is 18 months and we are off to Portugal of Sunday. I know it's going to be hot and am rather anxious to do everything I can to make this a happy holiday for us all (had a bad experience in France recently).

So tips please. We want to pack as light as possible and I've all the sensible basics covered - ie sun hat/ sun block/ mosquito net but are there any little extras that you think can help make a holiday go smoother?

Are you staying somewhere with AC and/or a washing machine? We have just come back from holiday with these luxuries, I only packed DS 4 vests in terms of wardrobe (plus the jumper/shorts he travelled in).

We also took a paddling pool. It sort of worked in keeping DS cool. He is 10 months and we rather under estimated his ability to crawl out of it though so 18 months may be too mobile.

We also froze strawberries and banana spears for him to eat when it was hot which he loved.

Also tried to keep his home routine the same as only 1 hour time difference.
