Sleeping issues...

My DS is 13 months and I can't get him to fall asleep by himself. I have tried leaving him for short bursts and also lying by the cot but he just gets hysterical. Does anyone have any tips? I don't want to do controlled crying so I am interested in any other ways to teach him to put himself to sleep?? Thanks

Can you rock him nearly to sleep and then put him down?

My 13 month old doesn't self settle or sleep through yet, I don't think it's that unusual. I keep telling myself she will do both before she's a teenager.

Have you seen The No-Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley? I've found some of it's techniques useful.

DD used to like having her fingers sucked at this age.
